After a sorrowful experience with Americast sinks, I was careful to do my homework before selecting a replacement. The Blanco ticket overall has received a lot of worthy feedback from people on review/chat boards, and the Silgranit in particular has been well received.
I'll add my notify to the Silgranit supporters - this is one astonishing sink! The color is incredible - looks immense and so easy to sustain orderly. I've been using the Blanco cleaner and it works well, but they say in their documentation that you can employ any nonabrasive cleaner with superior results, and expend Bar Keepers Friend for stubborn stains.
Very easy to install. The sink weighs about 45 pounds, so it's not a chore to choose into plot. I mounted it as a fall in, but you can also mount it as an undermount. Really like that the rim is flat so when mounted as a topple in you can spend the serve rim to bear items (like a brush/scrubber holder) without it falling off. It comes with 10 clips should you want to do an undermount so there's nothing additional that needs to be purchased.
It comes with one center hole drilled, but you can easily add more. There are a total of six additional hole punchouts - the succor is scored so you can punch out the hole using a hammer. Blanco provides detailed directions on how to do so, even specifying the type and size of the hammer you should exercise. One hole was attractive for my install, but this is a huge feature for those who need something other than the standard hole layout - you can salvage a custom layout without paying an extra dime (or having to wait weeks for a special order) .
The sink is very well packed at the factory with foam all over. Survived the UPS truck without a scratch.
Blanco customer service is responsive. I emailed them with a inquire of concerning the employ of plumbers putty and they got abet to me within an hour. They do not recommend using plumbers putty since the oils in it can leach into the granite and stain. You probably wouldn't sight it on the anthracite color but, to be on the advantageous side, I primitive marble-safe putty. That can be hard to acquire since the huge box hardware stores typically don't carry it, but you can usually win it at a plumbing supply house. Other options are distinct silicon (which is what Blanco recommends) that you can accumulate anywhere. Silicon can work huge but it's a steady maintain to regain rid of should you want to change out a faucet or drainpipe down the road. If you can get it, marble trustworthy putty is the better option.
I was a bit horrified that I would miss having two basins, but one expansive basin is so grand more useful. You can soak cookie sheets, gargantuan pans, etc. with ease. Titanic to have all that room!
I'll never regret buying this great, deep, dim beauty. I can earn the grungies almost all the method into it-- filled with hot soapy water for cleaning. You know, the bad greasy filter over the stove and those nasties from under the refrigerator. They open to smell after awhile, but now I can super them easily in this vast deep and wide baby!! And being sunless, it never shows dirt or stains! So long to all the scratches and marks on my dilapidated stainless steel sinks.
Got this as fragment of a total kitchen remodel 6 months ago and it is tranquil one of our current parts of the kitchen! Sizable, sizable enough to easily soak cookie sheets and broiler pans; and very easy to sustain spruce.
