This machine replaces a semiautomatic Delonghi, which, I view, was decent. Well...after using this for 3 weeks, I can honestly say that my weak machine was barely competent. The Titanium is a unbelievable machine. Not only is the espresso good but the panerella wand makes awesome froth and the thing looks broad. It's fully programable and, once dwelling, it's fair a matter of pushing a button to brew a appetizing espresso - every time! It warms up in UNDER A Cramped, has a tremendous bean hopper, great water resevior, very chilly blue lcd point to...i can't rave enough. I've had no problems at all with this machine and I recommend it heartily.

Believe me, I idea long and hard for paying over a $1,000 for a coffee maker. The very belief struck me as a bit obnoxious, since I've never paid more than $50 for a coffee maker before, but now I'm elated I did. I looked at several espresso makers, ranging from the simplest (and cheapest) to the mid-range machines on up to this beast, the Gaggia Titanium. I finally decided to hold the coffee tumble and figured that I could always return it if my wife ("the decider", as I like to call her) vetoed the capture.

I ordered the Titanium during my Amazon Prime trial, so it was shipped overnight for unbiased a few dollars and arrived on a Monday. We had house guests at the time and while one didn't drink coffee, the other considered himself a hard-core coffee purist (he even has a roaster at home and buys his beans green) . I noticed upright away that the machine was packed well, which is always a genuine heed. I had the machine out of the box, read through the directions, and started brewing coffee in about 15 minutes. Wow. This was easily the best coffee I had ever tasted, with none of the bitterness I usually associate with espresso (at least with espresso I've made) .

The machine produces four different beverages: espresso, "regular" coffee, caffe lungo, and hot water. (Caffe lungo, as it turns out, is literally "coffee long" and is similar to espresso, but with more water passed through for a longer brew time. While I'd never heard of it, it's now my wife's novel morning beverage.) There's also the frothing wand and the cappuccinatore, which is an attachment that replaces the frothing wand specifically for cappuccino. While others have mentioned never using the cappuccinatore, it's all I've frail so far and I've converted at least two strict coffee drinkers to cappuccino lovers.

My second (after the cost) biggest anguish was that I'd been told that well-kept automatics are a distress to dapper and that it would be more hassle than it's worth. As it turns out, the Titanium's not the hard to desirable. The dregdrawer (which holds the "hockey pucks" as my friend calls them) sits inside the drip tray, which easily slides out after you unlatch the door. The Titanium's blue prove will let you know when it's time to empty the drip drawer. (It's not clever enough to know if you empty the dregdrawer in between these warnings, but if you empty it on your bear schedule, you simply pull out the drawer for 5 seconds and walk it wait on in.) For the drip tray, there's a red plastic float that rises up as the tray fills to let you know that it's time to empty the tray.

The most difficult fraction to smart, which isn't all that hard, is the brewunit, which processes the coffee as it comes out of the grinder (or from the ground coffee slot, if you determine to exercise your occupy ground coffee) . You have to unscrew a couple stainless steel plates and brush the unit (with an included brush) . In short, cleaning a well-kept automatic is no more of a chore than cleaning the separate appliances (coffee grinder and drip/espresso maker) . One minor annoyance is mentioned on an orange sheet packed in the box that says that "oily" beans can clog the grinder and there's an 800 number to call for suggestions.

The only dilemma that I've had is that the beans (Starbuck's Caffe Verona) don't tumble into the grinder properly and so every few cups the Titanium reports that the beans are empty even when there are beans in the hopper. Reaching into the hopper and pushing the beans around fixes that quandary, but the gain at the 800 number reports that the oily beans will cause a buildup in the grinder and offered to send instructions on how to super the grinder, should that become a quandary. (It hasn't been for me yet, but I've only had the Titanium for a week and a half.) The suggestion I got from the 800 number was to let the beans sit on a baking sheet for an hour or so before adding them to the hopper and while this hasn't eliminated the quandary of the non-empty hopper, it has reduced it.

One more tip: if you don't have a grinder, assume buying one (I bought the KitchenAid KPCG100NP Pro Line Burr Coffee Grinder, Nickel Pearl from Amazon and have been very satisfied with it) . Sometimes (especially in the evenings, I've had requests for decaf and I'd rather not try to empty the bean hopper and grinder. Instead, you can add a scoop of ground coffee and press the "pre-ground coffee" button to insist the Titanium to spend your ground coffee rather than grinding it novel. (I negate you could also grasp already ground coffee, but if you're already spending over $1,000 on a coffee maker, what's a grinder? )

The bottom line: if you exercise more than a few bucks a day on coffee, you can elaborate the cost and you'll wind up with substantial coffee. I pronounce it's some measure of how considerable we savor the coffee that with three coffee drinkers, we've brewed fair over 120 "coffees" (an espresso shot-sized measure of all three coffee products) in ten days. There's no examine that this is a 5-star product.

this is my second fully automatic espresso machine; my first was saeco magic that was retired after it began to incessantly leak. i knew that saeco and gaggia were the same company, and the saeco served me well for nearly 9 years with no service whatsoever (although it was a minor repair i found out later) but i wanted to earn a newer, more stunning machine, so i spent time looking into this gaggia.

i actually didn't recall this machine here, but on ebay, but in the past year the designate has gone done so you would do best to catch it here. the machine i bought on ebay was note unique, unopened (and at the same notice they sell it here) and with factory warranty. this is a handsome fraction of equipment, but if you need to establish money, the gaggia titanium (without the SS suffix) is $200 cheaper and identical, objective doesn't have the stainless steel side panels.

i gave it only 4 stars as it exhibited "issues" fair 3 days out of warranty; it appeared to have started leaking. after a fast search into "authorized" repair centers and reading through the nightmares of some people, i found a local repair shop that was able to fix the mutter in under a week. apparently, a fitting for the steam boiler was malformed, causing it to leak. the advise was fixed snappy (and for less than $100) and since then, the machine has been making dozens of cups of espresso a day!

the espresso is rich and HOT (being able to dwelling the temperature on this unit is a gargantuan thing that a LOT of units don't have) and cleanup is fairly simple. i haven't had the "ventilate" verbalize that i have seen others write about here. one annoying feature, is that the energy saving feature REQUIRES that you situation a turn on/turn off time. and every time the unit turns on, it uses some of the water in the tank to rinse the brew group. normally, not a huge convey, but since the water is drained into the pan beneath the unit, you DO have to remember to empty it. while this unit is SO quick-witted...it doesn't know when the pan is bulky (place for a pathetic puny manual indicator) and if you aren't careful, you may ruin up with sunless coffee water all over the state! if you exercise your machine as often as i exhaust mine (daily), you'll construct a label to empty the drain distress every couple of days.

occasionally, the machine will represent that the dregdrawer (where the venerable grounds are deposited) is beefy, when it actually isn't. best thing is to fair empty it and replace the drawer...everything works resplendent.

i didn't employ the wild looking frothing accessory...the exact metal frother that you explore on the front of the unit works wonderfully, is easy to orderly, and best of all, since the unit has 2 boilers, there's no waiting between brewing espresso and steaming milk...it does dispense nice HOT water as well...

and lastly...the grinder. i know that some people have had issues with it not feeding the coffee properly; this is mainly when the machine is modern. once the oil from the beans have lubricated the unit, it is less of a spot. although i found a tip online that said to purchase the miniature cap over the grinder (fair try not to stick your fingers in when it's on) . i did this to my unit, and have rarely had a scrape since...

all in all, a substantial unit. expensive, but when you weigh it out, i've made over 1000 cups of espresso in this machine in the past year. at starbucks, that would have been anywhere from $2500-4000...so it paid for itself in short order

addendum: a year later and 1000 cups more and smooth going strong! no further issues with leakage. acquire Determined you decalcify the unit per manual instructions...with over 2400 cups made you can only imagine the money saved at the coffee shop i highly reccommend lavazza spruce crema beans for this machine...

My previous receiver was a 9 year veteran Sherwood. It was a exiguous above a gross slay unit. It started buzzing and I decided it was time for a replacement. I have 2 nice Wharfdale floor speakers, a nice center, decent rear surrounds and 2 really decent sub woofers.

I read extensive reviews on several brands and decided that I would purchas Onkyo. I went to Fry's looking for the 606 model. They were sold out and fair received the 607. I purchased the 607.

I wanted something HDMI based that allowed audio through the HDMI cables. The thing was a snap to position up. Invent obvious to race an HDMI cable to your TV from the receiver so that you can do on hide programming.

As I said, I have 2 sub woofers and the 607 has two output RCA jacks to enable 2 subs. No more RCA splitters. I fired the thing up and was horrified at the sound quality. The thing sparkles and the lows are super and deep. I adjusted the individual speaker levels with a Radio Shack db meter on an easy to employ Onkyo menu. I did not consume the calibration system built into the receiver. A few trips through the menus and you have them mastered. The menu system is REALLY SIMPLE.

Unless you have some REALLY expensive speakers, this is the unit for you. Titanic sound quality, simple setup and easy menus gain this a valid choice for the novice or mid range home theater enthusiast.

I highly recommend the unit.

Unpacked this baby last night and found hook up and setup to be straightforward. Replacing an aging Pioneer VSX-21, which I never quite got frail to. Adore the Audessy 2Eq funtionality on this unit. I obsolete the automated speaker set-up which was very simple (my daughter was gratified by the test tones it sends out) . Also had the dispute with the subwoofer being over-amped but easy to remedy. I haven't tried the unit without the auto-volume or auto-eq funtion, so can't compare that yet. CNET review was really down on it, but so far I liked being able to hear everything without blasting my wife out of the house!

Someone mentioned that it does not have HDMI pass-through but this is incorrrect. It does. You have to flip the switch in the setup menu, but it is there. The upscaling for non-HD tv leaves something to be desired but otherwise I judge it actually improved my HD viewing from my FIOS box.

My only negative so far if you can call it that was no XM interface, only Sirius. With the merger I'm hoping that won't be a immense scream, but that is really not a major negative at all for me. Would have prefered that it had HD-Radio unit built in rather than HD-ready but again, don't listen to the radio that mighty. The remote could be better. I too despise having to push the receiver button, but once I find the universal programmed it'll go in the drawer with all the others.

I was down to this model vs. the Denon 1909, but after reading all the stories of how difficult it was to place up and the extra $71 off at checkout, this choice is really a no brainer. I have not hurry into any of the humming or running hot issues that so many have claimed on other Onkyo units. I'm starting to believe this is a record. I stale to sell stereo equipment and I got more Denon's returned on me than any other tag. One even caught fire in the showroom. Never had any pain with the Onkyo's.

No other receiver in this trace range can arrive end to this value.

I am using this with a couple of Thiel CS 1.5's and a Yamaha center. The Thiels are 4 ohms, and while the Onkyo is rated for 6 ohms or higher, it handles the Thiels with no problems and no clipping. The Audessey was simple to region up. The on-screen exhibit makes plot up very easy. The sound is amazingly sure, well-kept, and initiate. When listening to music, the sound stage is very evident and I can hear things I hadn't been able to hear with my previous Luxman R 117 receiver. Watching BluRay movies, the receiver does a large job giving me realistic surround effects with only 3 speakers.

Now for the downsides, only two as far as I have been able to ascertain: 1) Even though my fresh Panasonic G10 plasma says it complies with the CEC HDMI control protocol through Viera Link, it will not work with the Onkyo. It won't even work with a Panasonic BluRay player bent up to the Onkyo via HDMI. Onkyo says their version, RIHD works with the Toshiba, Sony and Samsung versions, and should work with Viera Link, but it does not. So I bought an IR repeater and solved the scrape of "late the cabinet door" control, but I wish I didn't have to.

Problem #2: When having your CD player curved up to the Onkyo with an optical digital cable, Zone 2 (which I employ to power speakers I have poolside) does not work. If I connect using analog RCA jacks, Zone 2 works blooming. But darn it, I want the best digital output in the house and would be delicate with analog in Zone 2, but Onkyo doesn't even give me that choice.

And here is another minor annoyance: using the remote, if I punch the CD button (or any other source button), I have to push the "receiver" button again to adjust the sound. Why this extra step? Adjusting the volume should be the default regardless of which source button I push.

Would someone be kind enough to recommend a subwoofer for this system? That will be my next occupy.

Oh, and yes, it does race hot, but no hotter than my Luxman did. I consider all high-current receivers hurry hot. It is the nature of the beast.

I am a PC guy, but I am also familiar with Macs. I esteem the Sony VAIO...this is my third one since 2001 and they are all quiet working astronomical. This current one though is the best. My well-liked aspects are the delicate hide, Windows 7, and the Blu-ray player. I have traditional it for a couple weeks now, and it really is a laptop I objective care for to work on. The novel graphical items in Windows 7 are awesome, which makes the user experience great more fun. The VAIO also comes with pre-installed software, but it's all stuff you want to support on it--like the Sony audio/video applications. And again, I honest can't stress enough how improbable the shroud is. My wife is a photographer, and she has taken some photos that impartial have that "so dependable" recognize to them on the cover...kind of like viewing a Blu-ray moview on a large TV. I am very ecstatic with this bewitch.

I bought a Sony VAIO VGN-FW280J/H 16.4-Inch Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 7200 RPM 320 GB Hard Drive, BD-RW, Vista Premium) Gray, in May 2009 for the helpful label of USD 999.99. I didn't commence the box for about one month, because I have 2 other Laptops an Apple and a HP.

Then I conventional this Sony for about 2 months as a desktop, but not that remarkable, so I didn't recede or bring this Sony on th go. Then for somehow it builds moisture inside the LCD, I beget due to the hot weather, I contacted Sony Succor, they asked me to send the unit to Sony Repair in San Diego which I did and they received the unit on 10.05.2009. Yesterday on 10.20.2009 at 8 pm I got an email saying that the repair estimate is USD 699.99 plus tax, whaaaaaat? ...I called moral away asked them to send it encourage, this is crazy...

I unprejudiced can not possess that this is a SONY, one of the biggest company in electronics/multimedia/movie industry.

I will never ever lift a sony anymore...

I am the proud owner of a Minden Grill and I fair savor it. It went together grand more easily than my retired Weber note grill--reason alone to prefer it in my book. It lights every time, and looks really cute in my limited backyard without taking up the whole patio. The side burner option really saved me during my kitchen remodel--I could grill meat and saute veggies factual next door. Once I even former the burner to boil corn on the cob, then effect it on the grill for a second before serving it. For Memorial Day, I prepared a Minden Grill smoked brisket and it got rave reviews from all my guests.

I contemplate it a stout addition to any backyard. (But I like the green one....)

This is a very worthy bare bones grill. It is compact and doesn't buy a lot of room. This was notable to me as I have a limited patio. I didn'twant one of those monstrosities with the side burners you never utilize. This is all they seem to carry at the major stores. It was easy to assemble (less than 1/2 hour) . It works perfectly and cooks fair true. I am very contented with the seize and would recommend this product to anyone needing a compact, no frills grill for a reasonable impress. Also from what I understand and for what it's worth, Minden is owened by Char Broil.

This Minden Grill Company 30,000 BTU Master Grill has been working perfectly for me since day one.

I received the grill in after impartial a couple of days (speedily service, with free shipping and no sales taxes) . I spent about 3o minutes assembling it without the instructions (I was hungry and it looked simple) . The grill looked gigantic. The only jam was that I assembled one portion backwards so the hose would not connect properly. I had to rewind what I did and assembled it correctly (so follow those simple directions) . Soon there after the Tuna steaks were cooking.

This quality grill has worked perfectly from then on out. It fires good up with the presto igniter. You can control three internal burners hastily and earn the temperature to the optimum temperature (temperature gauge works attractive) .

The "Master Grill" gargantuan (we went with the forest green) and is simple to work with.

I realized after it arrived that I had better then expected grill for the long haul so I came aid to the region and upgraded to the bamboo cutting board (heck only $14), the side burner and a veil to maintain this master grill looking estimable.

This grill is a solid value and I highly recommend it.

The Kenwood KVT-514 is the modern motorized DVD unit for 2009. This thing can do it all. It is the First of Kenwood's units that works with the iPhone, you will need the KCA-iP301V($25-$30) cable. I doin't have the Bluetooth adapter yet, so I can't vouch for that, But I do know that you can spend the hide to dial your contacts, and then you nave the Navigation twisted up while are looking up a state of business(Restaurant) You can press on the phone number and it will dial the area. I have the iPhone & Kenwood KNA G510 - Navigation system bu Garmin. The Nav. is astronomical!! Well it's a Garmin and they are the best in the Nav. business.

I was looking at the Kenwood Excelon DNX8120, It has everything...but..I wanted a obliging unit that didn't stand out in a parking lot, and a 7in cloak in the amble unprejudiced beggs to be stolen. The hide in the 514 has the fresh Z-Action(tm) mechanism gives you 12 different viewing angles for optimum visibility. Kenwood's flip out conceal units have been very first-rate and grand. 1 word of CAUTION...KENWOOD ONLY HONORS THERE WARRANTY IF YOU Steal FROM THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALERS..(Crutchfield) . This is a lot of money for a unit and adds up if you add all the stuff for it, so a warranty is always a superb thing. This thing will do it all I am joyful I chose this model. I do my homework and purchase the best, You cant beat Kenwood and Garmin both have a very profitable track narrate...Delight In..

Works with Kenwood iPod adapter, Bluetooth adapter, HD Radio tuner, satellite radio tuner, and navigation module.

I have the KVT514, KCA BT200, KST HR200 installed in a Ram 2500. The sound quality is agreeable, however the rest of it is a mess. I wonder if the engineers actually save it in a car and tried it out. Almost all of the buttons on the touch conceal are on the upright side of the cloak, as far away from the driver as possible. The veil is gargantuan but the buttons are runt. If you play music from a USB stick on "Random" inquire to hear the same 20 or 30 songs all of the time and very rarely any others. I would inquire of it to randomly play all of the songs on the USB before starting over. If a report is loaded that is associated with a song, the song "skips" until the report loads. I have never found any of the "hidden" HD radio stations that are advertised. Most of the time it cycles aid and forth between HD and regular FM about every puny or so. The scheme the blue tooth interacts with the phone is risky. Looking up a phone number is an fervent process. 1st if you do a search and enter a letter ALL of the names with that letter are displayed and you have to search through all of them. Then you have to approach all the contrivance across to the moral side to touch the cramped "show" button, and then hit the minute dial button. If you consume a programmed number you have to hit the program button (it is astronomical) then hit the tiny dial button to connect. (Why not manufacture it so you honest it the button and it dials? ) If the call fails the system locks up and nothing can be done until you turn it off and wait on on again to reset it. This means pulling over to the side of the road and shutting the engine off as there is no on/off button on the unit. Grand more to say, but not enough room. All in all I am very disappointed in the system and really wish I had bought something else.

I support checking out the Netbooks that approach into the hardware lab where I work, looking for something to replace a cheap one I bought for my kids to play with, but they all unprejudiced seem too tiny. As a result I've been poking around the high-end of the Netbook spectrum / rude demolish of the Ultra-portable spectrum for something more usable. The Acer Aspire 1410 series does a expansive job of bridging the gap between miniature coarse cost "Netbooks" and more expensive "Ultra-portables" (which is what Acer classes this as) . It manages to overcome many of the short comings of Netbooks without getting anywhere approach the $1000+ brand range of most ultra-portables. It has a few drawbacks, notably material quality: like a lot of Acer products the plastic molding is dazzling and the tolerances are tight. However the quality of the plastic is more in line with what you would inquire with a Netbook (which is to say it is lower density plastic and more likely to scratch or shatter) . To me it's reasonable that the overall component quality is lower than what I would procure if I spent $1000 (present not as nice, effect not as refined, buttons not as responsive, etc...) . Smooth, overall this is a well establish together computer with genuine compose quality considering the imprint. While I didn't extinguish up buying one myself if might be the moral fit for you: if you are on a budget and you need a limited laptop that can do more than browse web pages this would be a very trustworthy choice.

Let's go over the specs:

CPU: The Core 2 ULV SU3500 is a expansive CPU choice and far more worthy than the Atom CPU found in most Netbooks. This is a single core (as opposed to the two core "Core2 Duo") Ultra Gross Voltage cpu running at 1.4GHz. Depending on the steady application this CPU is about 3-6x more worthy than the typical Atom Processor. It also has 3 MB of cache (cache is a execute of on-chip high hurry memory) vs the Atom's 512 KB. With 6x the cache of the Atom this CPU is going to exercise a lot more time running instructions and a lot less time waiting on the memory sub-system. It also helps that the Core 2 ULV SU3500 memory bus is about 25% faster than what you will fetch on an Atom. The Core2 is technically more power hungry than the Atom but when running applications the dissimilarity isn't important (5 watts for the Core2 vs 1.5 watts for Atom) . The main inequity happens when in standby or sleep mode where the Atom will utilize mighty less power than the Core2 (because the kind of transistors on the Atom "leak" less power than those customary on the Core2 when in those modes) . So if you need long battery life while carrying your computer around in standby with brief periods of activity you might take the Atom based Netbooks (say for sales calls on the road) . I reflect most users will probably seize the Core2 - I know that I do. Update: there may be a dual core version of this coming out soon. It's on the list to near where I work but that doesn't mean it will be sold in the US.

MEMORY: 2GB of DDR2 RAM is plenty and the 667Mhz memory hasten is safe enough (faster notebooks go up to 1066Mhz) . This system runs Vista which is more memory hungry than the Windows XP or Linux found on most Netbooks so 2GB, while enough, doesn't go as far as you might judge. Tranquil, as long as your aren't planning on doing any really serious gaming 2GB will handle the typical office application with no troubles.

HDD: The 250GB HDD has plenty of storage given that most users don't employ more than 50GB. Serious gamers and video encoders will need a lot more location than this.

DISPLAY: The 11.6" 1366x768 cover looks genuine and is a lot more useable than the 8-10" screens found on most Netbooks. The resolution is noteworthy better than what you will pick up on most Netbooks and it is reasonably knowing (200 nits vs 300+ nits on higher ruin laptop) . I passed on this model because the viewing angle is minute (the manufacturer list the viewing angles as 60vert/90horiz compared to 120v/140h on a high extinguish note) and my sons like to sit with me and examine YouTube videos. The diminutive viewing angles might be a selling point for somebody traveling who would rob not to allotment what's on their mask with others. So while Acer clearly saved some money here it's serene a advantageous display: unless you need a really high quality LCD I assume most people will be splendid glad with this camouflage (again it's far better than what you'll come by in most Netbooks) . For those few who care it's made by AU Optronics and I contemplate it's model B116XW01.

GRAPHICS: The Intel Mobile GMA X4500HD graphics won't ticket any gamers but if you're running business applications it will do objective dazzling. Update: they loaded Autocad on this thing at work and it wasn't beautiful. It might have been a driver swear but the render times were bad. It's not really a surprise but don't catch this to speed your CAD software. Of course for most users this won't be an direct.

AUDIO: notebooks are not known for gargantuan speaker sound and this notebook doesn't wreck from that trend. Again it's better than most Netbooks but not by a lot. Update: With headphones on I found the sound to be comely.

DRIVES: Like most Netbooks and Ultra-portables this has no CD or DVD drive. I recommend buying an external CD Drive. The software industry may inaugurate to switch over to USB drives soon (Windows 7 will be sold on USB drives) so this may not be a grand deal for great longer. Today it's a distress to not have a CDROM.

BATTERY: The 6 cell battery is perfect for this notebook (thanks to the gross power components) . This notebook is probably too cramped for an 8 cell to fit cleanly but the 4 cell found in most Netbooks fair isn't adequate, even for an Atom CPU. This 6 cell battery will provide about 3-5 hours of precise spend though with aggressive power saving modes you can procure over six hours. Update: we have two of these in our hardware lab and it was honest pointed it out to me that one (which came pre-release) had a higher capacity battery than the release version (5600mAH vs. 4400mAH) . I've adjusted my battery life numbers down to consider the release version. Interestingly the non-US version of this laptop has the higher capacity battery. I can only lift Acer was trying to bring the notice down to compete in the tight US netbook market.

WEIGHT: Coming in a 3.1 lbs this is shrimp bit heavier than the typical Netbook but not by worthy (Netbooks will range from 2-3lbs) . Most regular notebooks are 6-8 lbs.

WIRELESS: The usual Intel 5100 A/G/N supports the most current standards ("A" and "G") along with the modern "N" standard. You should have no disaster connecting to wireless networks. This is beautiful standard though a few laptops will help 3G out of the box.

In short: while this notebook isn't perfect it is well built and unlike most Netbooks, actually has a decent CPU. It's itsy-bitsy and light but huge enough that you can actually spend it. If you've got 1K-2K to exercise you can gather a better Ultra-Portable notebook (I'm partial to Sony's and Apple's offerings in that segment) but in this effect range there isn't worthy competition.

Oh I should label that while this model is gloomy blue, Acer makes this in two other colors you can buy:

Acer Aspire AS1410-8913 11.6-Inch Ruby Red

Acer Aspire AS1410-8804 11.6-Inch Black

Also if you're outside the US this might be sold as the "Acer Timeline 1810T" locally and may have slightly different specs (such as a better battery) .

This laptop is objective by far the best laptop for the overall features.

Pros:

1. Very thin and light. Impartial a bit bigger than today's netbooks

2. Mighty faster than Atom based netbooks

3. Intellectual and stout cover with apt HD aspect ratio. Very useful resolution.

4. 4g upgradeable memory cap.

5. Stout webcam and advantageous microphone

6. Fantastic battery life even with Core2solo CPU. Last longer than my other netbook with the same capacity battery.

7. HDMI out! wow

8. Wireless N and Bluetooth

(Edited:8/31/2009) No Bluetooth! My dreadful assumption from the bluetooth switch and LED indicator on the laptop. Sorry...

9. Multi finger/gesture touch pad like iPhone

10. Very usable keyboard

11. Level-headed fan and harddrive

12. It does not procure hot like my other netbook

13. Astronomical speakers!

14. Centrino architecture seems to be faster in network response compare to Atom based netbooks

15. Inexpensive for the quality laptop with all the features

16. (Added on 8/29/2009) Stout 250G HDD

17. (Added on 8/29/2009) Free upgrade to Windows 7 from Acer. Nice! (However, it was itsy-bitsy tricky to register using Chrome. I had to expend IE. They may have fixed the grunt though...)

18. (Added on 8/29/2009) The lid opens up wider (deeper? ) than my netbook. This is kind of critical to me while using it on my lap.

Cons (I do not really care about these cons, but here they are)

1. Vista. I like XP myself

2. Brilliant LCD conceal is too reflective. This may be fair me.

3. HD movies from Vimeo and Youtube are bit indolent (not because of network bandwidth. It is more like not enough CPU power for Flash based HD movies.

(Added on 8/29/2009) Even though the movies are cached all the scheme, the CPU hits 100% with Flash based HD movies. SD movies are impartial ravishing. I can kind of contemplate HD Flash movies better with this laptop than my Atom netbook though.

4. All the pre-installed applications that I removed.

5. My wish for the laptop effect to be somewhat like macbook or HP Mini series.

6. I view the CPU had hyper-threading like Atom. Task manager shows only one thread. I know it is "solo", but Atom shows two threads.

(Added on 8/29/2009) The CPU does not have HT (Hyperthreading) . I had some snide info there. Even without the HT, this tiny laptop performs powerful faster than my Atom netbook.

Although I listed cons, they are very least items that I wish for. Of course, It does not originate like Intel i7 CPU based desktops. However, for the size and usability, this is a champ of all laptops and desktop PCs I have ever owned. I will employ the i7 desktop for Video and photo editing. That may be only 5% of all my computer usage. The rest, 95% of tasks can be done with this exiguous laptop for me. I cannot talk about the durability yet, but it seems to be well built. Anyway, this is a enormous laptop with very reasonable label label!

(Added on 8/29/2009) Some usual stuff that I did to effect the laptop even better.

1. Usual Vista tune ups like turning off Aero and other graphic intensive features.

2. Removed many pre-installed apps mainly Office trial and Anti-virus software.

3. Turned off unused originate up programs

(Added on 8/30/2009) Some tests

1. HDMI out to HD TV

1080p resolution worked perfect including sound with not worthy config. 1080 resolution gets everything too tiny to read for my setup. I switched to 720p. My TV does not adjust automatically, so I had to adjust the size using Intel TV wizard software (This app cannot be customary with Dual monitor config. Switching to Digital TV only mode enables it.) . I adjusted using the app to 720p. The app works, but the veil refreshes every time the adjustment button was clicked, I had to press the adjustment button very slowly and patiently. When I clicked too fleet, the app froze with 100% CPU for a long time like 10 min. I had to restart. Other than that all worked perfect!

2. Web cam and digital microphone using Skype

I wanted a petite laptop with webcam, so I can establish it legal next to my baby and display her to my parents in Japan via Skype. My other netbook kind of worked, but in rude light region, the video was so gloomy that they could spy only my white eyes. Mic was also giving them echo. When I tried with this laptop, it was literary day and night. This laptop webcam is optimized for coarse light. They could notice my baby clearly. The mic was sure and no echo. The only minor deny is that the image is bit white tinted with default setting. My wife notion I was smoking... haha. I had to tweak a bit in config. Nonetheless, the webcam and mic worked tall for Skype. FYI: It does not manufacture like high resolution after market webcams, but the built-in webcam satisfies my needs very well.

This notebook is one of those instances when you say to yourself, "Wow, it is as qualified as I expected, and more."

I have refrained from buying a netbook because the obscene resolution and awful performance prevents me from multi-tab web browsing, not to mention continuous scrolling with Office documents. When I first saw this notebook, I was very furious because it has something the older generation netbooks have lacked:

- Decent resolution (1366x768)

- Decent performance

- Even better battery life (6 hours)

Except, it actually exceeded my expectation.

LCD Screen: Very intriguing, and very lustrous. I am amazed that Acer can squeeze 1366x768 into an 11.6 plug veil, and aloof hold it so engrossing and definite. It is very comfortable to plan, and I do not feel any different from viewing my ragged 14 stagger LCD.

Performance: In terms of word processing, web surfing and installing software, it has been as aloof as my mature dual-core laptop. This notebook has upgraded the CPU and chipset from the previous generation netbook, which contributes to the performance I am seeing.

Keyboard/touchpad: It's chubby size keyboard, and it's comfortable to type on. I am detached trying to come by musty to some of the key placement, and the lack of home/end buttons. But it's definitely no worse than my other laptop's keyboard. Acer has also learned the lesson from Aspire 751h, so the touchpad is centered to the touch-typing keyboard, and has two buttons. However, the touchpad edge is difficult to distinguish.

Battery: From what I read, one Acer hour is usually shorter than one Asus hour. This notebook has proven me unfavorable. I rush it on high performance mode, and it aloof gives me about 6 hours of battery life. Running company VPN and remote desktop seems to carve it to about 5 hours.

Size: While slightly bigger than the prev-gen netbooks, I don't feel it's bulkier. At 3 lb, it's very light, but can collected stand to lose some weight.

Temperature: It doesn't heat up mighty, you can exercise it on your lap the whole day.

Other Pros: 250 GB HDD, 2 GB RAM, 1 Gb LAN, 802.11n, webcam, microphone, no-latch lid

Cons:

- Lack of separate Home/End buttons. Unfortunately I believe most netbooks have to form this sacrifice.

- Battery charging is uninteresting (I estimate about 4 hours) . On the flip side, the charger is limited and light.

- Calm requires a fan to dissipate heat, albeit collected.

- Others: lacks bluetooth

As I said, the moment I started using it, all I could say was "Wow". I could not absorb Acer could approach out with something that outshines Asus (and the rest of the computer industry) . For all the laptops I have owned (5), none of them have impressed me as mighty as this one does.

Update 2009-09-07:

I went on a business plod proper after getting this laptop. It's proven to be very mobile. I charge the laptop at night, and consume it to work with me in the morning, without the charger. The keyboard feels very natural, and overall work is detached sailing.

At night I exhaust this laptop to play demo games and witness a few videos (I had the foresight to rip a few ISOs) . Most DVDs play broad, but there was one that does not play smoothly, so I guess it depends on the DVD encoding.

Overall care for this laptop's portability. The battery life ensures that the laptop is always ready when I need to spend it.

This workbench is resplendent honorable for the money.

The assembly is easy.

The vises are well build, there is no play and they are flush to the bench.

The main complaint I have with this bench is that it is too ligthweight. I would not recommand using this bench without the accessory cupboard which stiffen the assembly and add some weight.

I am very ecstatic with the workbench. I've only had it for a week or so, but it's been titanic for repairs and runt projects. I purchased with the optional cupboard, which is a useful accessory and does appear to add some heft.

Pros: splendid compose, goes together well, very functional, efficient spend of space

Cons: packaging, as mentioned with reviews of other Sjoberg Nordic benches, is not adequate to protect product during shipping. My bench showed up with a few moderate cracks and dents.

I have ragged this bench for quite some time.

I must say that it have created even more joy and qualitytime with my kids than I ever could request.

Sure it is not the largest and most expensive workbench you can accumulate, but for the purpose of fixing broken things, makeing puny furntire togehter with kids it is perfect.

Considering the time I utilize with my workbench and the years it will last it is a bargain.

If you are thinking of buying a qualified quality workbench - do it - you won't regret it.

UPDATE:

Just in case you choose to order a case for this netbook, support in mind that the dimensions in the Amazon description or Toshiba's website (10.4 x 7.6 x 1.27 inches) are the dimensions of this netbook WITHOUT the 6-cell battery. If you examine at the side-view photo in the Amazon description spot (the one with the 7.6" measurement fair below it), you'll observe it's pictured without the battery. I impartial measured mine and with the 6-cell battery protruding from the support, it's actually 10.4 x 8.4 x 1.27 so many of the cases you come by on Amazon made for 10" netbooks may not fit the NB205 with the 6-cell battery. Okay that's it for my update... read on for my fresh review...

----------

I objective received my Toshiba NB205 yesterday and after spending many hours "playing" with it, I can easily say that, hands down, it is the BEST Netbook on the market today!

At the raze of next week, I'll be traveling overseas and I wanted a dinky and lightweight laptop that I would be able to consume to search for movies on the plane, transfer vacation photos and videos to, and exercise the internet for researching stuff from my hotel room. I currently beget a 15" Macbook Pro but decided I didn't want to buy it with me since it's a bit bigger & heavier and I can't afford to lose it. That's when I began researching these Atom-based Netbooks.

When I started researching, the Toshiba NB205 had not yet been released but there were collected many netbook models out there by other manufacturers. I had originally considered the Samsung NC10, Acer Aspire One AOD250, Asus 1000HE, and Lenovo S10 as they all were magnificent great equipped with similar configurations (Atom N270/N280 1.6 or 1.66Ghz cpu, 10" cloak, 1GB ram, 160GB HD, 6-cell Li-Ion battery, Windows XP Home) and priced in the $350-400 trace range. I won't go into too distinguished detail about what I liked or didn't like about the other products but I had elegant mighty narrowed it down to either the Samsung NC10 or the Acer AOD250. Then I came across a pre-release review from Laptop Magazine on the Toshiba and decided to wait on my netbook. It was definitely worth the wait considering this is the first netbook I've near across that actually had noticeable differentiating features. When you compare all the others, it's kind of hard to resolve from one over the other because they're all so similar!

The 4 biggest selling points on this Toshiba NB205 that had me wait for it was the 9-hour battery life, the gawk & feel of the keyboard, the size of the trackpad & buttons, and the overall aesthetics of it.

The whole point of buying a laptop this itsy-bitsy and compact is for its portability factor. When you have to lug a brick-based AC adapter with you in alarm the battery in your laptop won't last as long as you need it, it positive interferes with how portable carrying a laptop really is. A 9-hour lithium-ion battery will definitely solve that dilemma. Most of you are probably wondering how realistic that 9-hour rating really is... Let me fair reassure you all, the battery life is Helpful! I brought it to a beefy charge, then unplugged it from the adapter and watched two movies on it (more on the movie playback capabilities later) and did 4 hours worth of web surfing afterwards -- all off the power from the battery on a single charge! You students out there can now bring it to all your classes and not have to seek for a wall outlet! Oh, btw, I had the cover brightness plot to 1/2 (level 4 brightness setting) and turned off the Bluetooth.

Netbooks are known for smaller keyboards and even worse, Minute trackpads and trackpad button(s) . In addition to the smaller size, many of the netbooks I saw in person at my local Fry's Electronics had very "cheapy"-feeling keyboards -- they unbiased felt actual fragile compared to the keyboard on my Macbook Pro. Enter the Toshiba NB205. Finally, a netbook that has a keyboard with keys that had the gaze and feel of a Mac keyboard and a robustly solid get to it. In addition to the see and feel, the keys were also blooming darn halt in width to my Mac keyboard (both my Macbook Pro's keyboard, and my desktop Mac's keyboard) . I'll try to post some comparison photos on Amazon this weekend for all those involved. The trackpad and buttons on the NB205 is also the biggest I've seen in the netbook category. Toshiba did a substantial job in getting this true. Most of the other netbooks had really itsy-bitsy trackpads and shrimp slight trackpad button(s) that felt staunch flimsy. Another feature that I like with the trackpad that's not stated anywhere is that the very fair edge of the trackpad can be primitive for scrolling web pages or other documents (similar to the one on the Samsung NC10) . This feature is not determined as there are no arrow indicators like there is on the NC10 but it does aid it!

I won't go into the aesthetics of this unit since you can attractive grand observe how improbable this netbook looks from the Amazon photos (I'll also add my gain photos this weekend so you can come by a better feel for the size, etc.) but let me now shift focus on using it.

Although I upgraded the memory on the unit to 2GB (I installed the Crucial 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Memory Module and it works tremendous with the NB205!), all the testing I performed and am about to relate was done with the stock 1GB memory.

The very first thing I wanted to gain determined this unit can do is play serve, at the very least, DVD-quality movies (i.e. 480P movies (720x480 resolution) ) . One thing I'd HIGHLY recommend everyone who's enthusiastic in watching movies on their netbook do is download the FREE media player called VLC (Google "download vlc") . VLC is very lightweight and will play help movies a lot smoother than Quicktime or Windows Media Player; and given the inherently slower speeds of these Intel Atom processors compared to the Intel Core 2 Duo processors, using the VLC media player is your best bet. Using a free program called "Handbrake", one can convert their Bluray or DVD movies to AVC/h.264-encoded movies, which is what I ragged to convert some of my Bluray collection into a format that can be played-back on my NB205. Since it's out of the scope of this review and would require a tutorial guide of its enjoy, I won't be able to interpret how you would go about converting your Bluray or DVD movies. Anyhow, I first converted my Bluray edition of Valkyrie to a 720x480 resolution with a conservative 864kbs bitrate. The NB205 had NO PROBLEMS playing it befriend... It played succor with very unruffled video and the audio was synced up perfectly throughout the entire movie. So I decided to convert the movie again.... this time, using more aggressive settings... I converted it to a resolution of 1024x600 (since this is the native resolution of the NB205's hide) and a 2048kbps bitrate. Again, the NB205 was able to play the movie without a hitch. I didn't bother trying to convert the movie to 720P since the native resolution of the mask is only 1024x600 (it would be equivilent to 600P but 600P is not a standard) . If you're planning to notice movies on the NB205 with someone else, you'll be ecstatic to know that watching it from a 45 degree angle is very acceptible. Beyond the 45 degree angle, you won't be able to really observe distinguished so don't interrogate to have more than 3 people watching from it (why would you have more than 2 or 3 people watching off a 10" veil anyways!? ) .

Given it's capability to playback movies very smoothly, anything else I was going to throw at it would be child's play. Anyhow, I was reading that this laptop does win hot but after playing aid two movies on it, it was not unbearable when resting it on my lap. So it doesn't seem like overheating problems will be too worthy of a exertion for this laptop (but only long-term usage can really confirm this) .

Another icy feature the NB205 sports that I'm not positive is available on all the other competitor models is a built-in accelerometer. It works the same device as the iPhone accelerometer but it's in the NB205 purely to detect if the laptop is about to rob a topple. When it detects motion, it fleet moves the hard drive heads away from the hard drive to prevent any mishaps in case the hard drive is currently reading from or writing to the hard disks. Using a Toshiba software utility that's installed from the factory, you can change the sensitiviy threshold of the accelerometer or turn it off altogether.

There are obviously a lot more features that the NB205 comes with but I'm not going to define each one simply because they're self-explanatory (such as bluetooth, wifi, etc.) but you can secure out more about those features in Amazon's description of this product.

One final sign before I execute my review... Toshiba released two main models of the NB205 on the same day... the NB205-N310/311/312/313 (which is the model I have -- the NB205-N310/BN to be loyal) and the NB205-N210. I reflect if you want to keep $50, the NB205-210 would be a favorable choice as well -- provided you don't need Bluetooth or the Mac-style "chiclet" keyboard. For the extra $50, though, you also come by the distinguished sleeker, original Toshiba-styling of the NB205-N31X series.

So if you're in the market for a very portable laptop, and you're considering a 10"-based netbook, the Toshiba NB205 is packed with features, enclosed around a very aesthetically lovely body, and is very competitively priced!!!

Went out last night to scrutinize at netbooks for the hundredth time. After looking at the same ole tedious models, plastic, petite, creaky, cheap feeling, I came across this beauty. A very sturdy model, well made, and I was bent on first area. After thinking that it was unbiased an visual thing, I started to type away on the keyboard and what a thing of attractive engineering. The Home, Ruin, PrtSc keys are all in the helpful site at the upper apt, some other netbook keyboards required the expend of the Fn key to expend those keys (this model includes separate page up and down keys too) . The camouflage is nice and sparkling, I was able to compare it side by side with a Dell mini and the Eee 1005HA and the Toshiba came out on top!!! Lastly, the touch pad is top of the line. It is not too diminutive and there are separate L and R buttons located on the bottom of the pad like a "normal" laptop. As you know some other manufacturers get one rectangular button on the bottom or one on each side of the track pad...this one is, again, top notch.

For the money, you can not go snide with purchasing this laptop. Tall feel, sturdy develop, awesome battery life, and you unprejudiced feel beneficial using it Hopefully this helps in your decision concerning a netbook assume.

I honest got my NB205 last Saturday. So these are initial, early impressions.

#1 (awful first impression) : It took all afternoon and into the evening to derive the unit talking to my LinkSys WRT54G wireless router. The wireless communication was connected, the router had assigned an IP address, but the NB205 refused to earn it. It sat at "acquiring IP address" until it timed out. I have a static IP block reserved on my router, so I gave the NB205 a static IP address and filled in the gateway and DNS server IPs, and it *still* wouldn't talk. In technical parlance, it wasn't impartial a quandary with ARP - the entire transport layer simply wasn't working.

A wired connection to the router worked fair. But that wasn't a workaround that I was prepared to acquire.

I researched on the Web and found that various Toshiba models seem to have a lot of worry with wireless, and that there are probably a hundred different things that people said finally got theirs working.

What finally worked for me was to turn off WEP security on both the router and the NB205. That immediately got them talking, at the expense of breaking all of my other wireless links (two computers and a Wii) . Then I turned WEP relieve on, and they stayed talking. No problems since. EDITED: after over two months, tranquil no jam. It was fair the one-time startup.

#2 (gracious) : The battery life is shapely danged long. Maybe not the claimed nine hours, but seven or eight (with WiFi turned off and using power-saver profile) . I suspect that a wonderful share of that comes from using an e-IPS demonstrate.

#3 (unpleasant but expected) : The manual is provided on the hard drive, not in print. The manual is disorganized and mostly useless. This seems to be par for the course for recent computers.

#4 (very slightly poor) : The manual says that if you shut the unit down by closing the lid (sleep mode, hibernate, or whatever) that when you launch the lid it'll begin assist up. It doesn't. You have to press the power button. EDITED: It will reach abet on automatically if you've left it plugged into AC power the whole time. It doesn't if it's unplugged, which for me is heavenly great "always".

#5 EDITED: (very annoying until I figured out what was unpleasant) : I had given up on using Sleep/Standby mode because about half of the time when I turned it assist on the unit completely rebooted. Hibernate mode always seemed to work. The jam turned out to be that one of the latches for the battery pack wasn't locked, and the netbook would lose power if the unit was lifted in a method that tried to separate the pack from the main unit. So it was my hold error, but I learned to pay attention to those latches.

#6 (generally honorable) : I got this netbook specifically for writing. The keyboard seemed to be the best available in the netbook originate factor, and I'm finding the keyboard to be quite usable for extended typing sessions. A couple of keys got relocated into funky positions, though. (Maybe other netbook keyboards do the same, I don't know.)

#7 (helpful) : The touchpad is the first one that I've found to be actually usable.

#8 (mildly concerning) : I had to turn off the vibration alerts because every time I click the touchpad, it sets off the vibration detector.

So... well-behaved keyboard, splendid touchpad, top-notch show, top-notch battery life. That's what I needed, and it's working out well. But I have level-headed some scars from the rough edges of getting it state up and the power on/off arrangements.

FIVE DAYS LATER (an update) : I'm really enjoying this minute guy. I finally got everything configured the blueprint that I want, and I worship working with it. My only day-to-day complaint is a comical one: I sometimes write while lying down, with my legs curved and the netbook propped against my legs, and in that location the clicker buttons on the touchpad rest against my belly and tend to click when I don't want them to. I've learned to spend Fn-F9 to disable the touchpad while I'm doing that.

It is extremely noisey even on the outrageous setting, but worse is that it does not even icy. IT didn't seem to icy at all so I let it speed all night in an attempt to icy down a puny room, the next morning the room was 1 degree cooler than the other rooms. A fan would do similar work and have less noise and cost.

We have the WA-1220M model of this product (virtually identical) . If you stand honest in front on it, up to about 5 feet away, it's nice. However, it has several drawbacks:

1. It isn't very proper at drying the air; evaporation is needed for effective air-conditioning (whether in your car or your home) .

2. It must be drained of the water it does pull from the air, and draining the unit is very cumbersome. It comes with a exiguous flexible plastic tube that has to be connected to the rear bottom of the unit; the other raze must be lower in order to drain or the unit really does very dinky and although there's an indicator light that will advance on if the unit is quite stout of water, it's very rare that the light comes on (and it only does so LONG after the unit has stopped cooling the air) . We have taken to wrapping a immense towel around the far waste of the tube to earn water that drains, but basically you must tilt the heavy unit backwards to try to drain it. This is not particularly effective but it must be done.

3. It has wheels, but it doesn't roll easily (it's hard to push or pull it in a straight line and the wheels are so itsy-bitsy even getting over a coarse rug is difficult.

4. Arresting the unit up or down a single step can be accomplished by one person but since the entire unit is made of very unexcited, slippery plastic (it has handles but they're very shallow & not genuine), it's more safely accomplished with two people.

5. Reflect that this unit, while mobile, sacrifices a suitable window seal. The vast consume hose (which pumps the hot air outside) resembles a telescoping dryer hose that easily falls out of the backside of the unit and is awkward to extend evenly. The unit comes with a smallish section of foam with a cutout hole for the hose. However, you are left with having to score some scheme to block the rest of whatever window you resolve to establish the hole into. We exhaust a stout carboard box panel and nick a hole out of, then duct-tape the box into the window opening to block out air seepage. As you can imagine, it looks sparkling tacky.

We wouldn't capture this again.

This is the top of the line impact driver from Bosh and it has worked titanic! I was able to drive a 3" drywall screws through a 2/4, sheetrock and into the stud without a pilot hole and very runt resistance or cam out. I really like the fact that the torque is transferred to the screw and not my wrist and arm! I have gone relieve and tightened whisk screws with no scrape...this thing will actually bury the washer in the wood if not too careful!

This drill has some serious torque. It prevents stripping screw heads

and for its size and weight it outdoes the heavier rotund non impactor

cordless drills.

It will sink a three chase screw, through a couple of pressure treated 2x12's, as if you were cutting butter with a knife..... the Best.
